Thank you for joining me for drinks this evening. First things first, what are you drinking?

A kir royale

If we weren’t here in my virtual bar tonight, but were meeting in real life, where would you be taking me for a night out?

The outside terrace of the Godolphin Arms, overlooking St Michael’s Mount.

If you could invite two famous people, one male and one female, alive or dead, along on our night out, who would we be drinking with?

Jane Austen and Aidan Turner.

So, now we’re settled, tell me what you are up to at the moment. How and why did you start it and where do you want it to go?

I’m writing a Christmas novel set in the Lake District. About 2/3 through the first draft but I’m afraid I can’t tell you anything about it yet other than I’ve been to do my research in the shadow of England’s tallest mountain.

What has been your proudest moment since you started writing and what has been your biggest challenge?

My proudest was having my first Sunday Times best seller after 25 books! My biggest challenge has been hanging in there and keeping writing through thick and thin until I achieved my dream.

What is the one big thing you’d like to achieve in your chosen arena? Be as ambitious as you like, its just us talking after all!

I’d love to see a TV series of my Cornish novels, with me in charge of all the casting.

What are have planned that you are really excited about?

I’m really excited about my current book! It’s been one of those that has simply flown from my fingers to the page. I’ve also got a Big Idea for a rom com but no time to write it yet.

I love to travel, and I’m currently drawing up a bucket list of things I’d like to do in the future. Where is your favourite place that you’ve been and what do you have at the top of your bucket list?

Definitely Australia. I’ve been lucky enough to visit four times in recent years and the scenery, the wildlife and sheer scale of the country are incredible.

Tell me one interesting/surprising/secret fact about yourself.

I started writing on a fanfic site when I was over 40 – before that I’d never dreamed of writing a book in my life!

Books are my big passion and central to my blog and I’m always looking for recommendations. What one book would you give me and recommend as a ‘must-read’?

That’s just too way difficult….

So, we’ve been drinking all evening. What is your failsafe plan to avoid a hangover and your go-to cure if you do end up with one?

Stop two drinks before you really want to! I’d prefer never to have a hangover again but if in doubt, I’d say stick to champagne.

After our fabulous night out, what would be your ideal way to spend the rest of a perfect weekend?

A breezy walk along the Cornish coast and brunch at a café overlooking the sea, before hitting the surf to go bodyboarding.

Thanks for joining me this evening, I’ve enjoyed our chat.

Rose Vernon is headed to a quiet Cornish village – to find the man who saved her life.

For Rose, every day is a gift. She narrowly survived a life-threatening illness and owes everything to her anonymous donor. Determined to thank him, Rose follows a trail of clues that lead her to the little Cornish fishing village of Falford.

But things become complicated when Rose is drawn into local life, becoming involved in the legendary Falford Regatta and meeting the handsome Morvah brothers – one of whom might just be the man she’s looking for. But which one?

Can Rose find the answer she’s searching for, or will she lose her heart before the summer is over?

Phillipa’s new book, A Golden Cornish Summer, will be published on 23 June and you can pre-order it here.

Under the golden Cornish sun, buried treasure and family secrets will change Emma’s life forever…

Emma loved her life in the seaside village of Silver Cove. But when the discovery of sunken treasure ignited a feud between her family and that of Luke, her first love, everything fell apart. Heartbroken and betrayed, she fled.

Now, as she wades into the sparkling surf for the first time in fifteen years, she remembers everything she loved about this beautiful place. Then a huge wave knocks her off her feet. Wet and dripping, Emma is rescued by none other than Luke – who is, to her dismay, even more handsome than ever.

Emma starts to wonder if returning home was a huge mistake. Or could the real treasure have been waiting here for her all along?
